    Redd Ryder,
Fortunately, I found my Rhett 28 years ago. We don't live at Tara, but we are very happy in our wonderful community of my hometown, Ferguson. (It hasn't changed that much. We still know our neighbors are there, if we need them.) I don't think my husband or my nine children (eight of whom are still at home) would appreciate me searching Lexington for the elusive Rogue. Personally, even though "Rogue's" personality is attention-seeking, the only attention he might get from me would be of a negative nature. Of course, I can't speak for Scarlett, but I'm sure she will speak for herself.

    Ferguson Proud,
I agree with you. There's nothing we can do about the closing of Ferguson School. It's too late. But you must have many more memories to share, and I hope that you won't let statistics get in the way of that. Those on the website who are interested in this type of research should explore it. However, most former students are happy to share memories of their school days and to just enjoy the nostalgia. I know I'm speaking for everyone when I say that we hope you reconsider signing off the website. As Knowitall9 would say, "Let the fun continue!"

    Proud :
We're not overly focused on its demise. That is but one small detail, worth talking about, but not the most important. You should stick around. I'm probably more interested in it than most, and I was never a student at Ferguson. But, like you say, I can always research it on my own. It doesn't detract from other ongoing memories.

Hey! You can't leave us,you have added to much Spice to quit now. HomeTown Girl is right. The Thread On Topix was started to" Remember The Good Times" at Ferguson. We have turned it into a " Chat Room " talking back and forth, and still managing to voice our " Memories " in a way that keeps it interesting! I will be the first to apologize, if you have been annoyed.I really hope you don't leave us.

Ferguson Proud, I really enjoyed getting to meet you on Saturday at the Library. You are so interresting to talk to. I hope you will continue getting on here so we can all resume our chats about the "Ferguson School days".
Most of you did achieve great accomplishments in your careers. However, I didn't. I quit school my senior year to marry and see the world. I was the only one of my sibblings that did this. The rest got their educations and I admire them. They all admire me because they feel I've accomplished more.
My desire in life was to travel all over the states and other countries, and at 61, I still want more of it. Also my big passion is writing and I have done alot of that too.
Coming back home to Ky. after being in Canada for the past several years, I found the Topics Forum and now the Ferguson School Website. It means alot to me and hopefully it does to you and all the others as well.
I feel there are some that were on the Topics forum that just dont feel comfortable getting on here and revealing themselves. They may have a very good reason. And maybe they just enjoy watching all of us try to guess their identity. It is fun, but I doubt if I will be the one to guess who they are. So good luck to the rest of you trying to guess.
I think we have a very unique website here. Im sure there is no other High School in Pulaski County that has their own Website.
As far as the closing of Ferguson School years ago, thats all in the past and we will probably never know what really happened. Thats not important to me.
I sincerely hope you will continue with us on here. I would love it if we could make plans for some fun things for this summer. Possibly picnics, cookouts, and with all the brilliant minds I'm sure you all can come up with some fun things for us.

I've had a long day of classes and meetings today so haven't been on, and now we're grabbing a quick dinner and heading to the UK game. I really don't like these 9 pm home games. I'm grateful that when I was involved tv had not yet achieved such dominance and we never had such late games. You all can kick back with your chips and dip and watch the game on tv. Enjoy.

I Remember and 1968 Ferguson Grad,

I talked with my neighbor recently and told her about this sight. She's planning to check it out. I think she was in the same class as you two were. I know she would have a lot of memories and information.

I need to correct my spelling, before the spelling police sees it. Itshould have read "site".

There was a year when Ferguson actually had two head basketball coaches in the same season. Bob Childers coached them up until New Years and Harold Tate coached them from January on. Why was that ? This was before my time but I would hear stories about it from the adults. Some of you like Sunshine, Blondie9 and others ought to know.

    Blondie9 :
He knows too much stuff from before I was there and after I was gone. He can't just be making it up because Knowitall9 has verified the details. He also knows stuff from while I was there but involving things I was not involved in and had no way of knowing about. Plus, it's all I can do to keep up with my own posts and working on the web site (don't forget, I'm not retired). Finally, I don't really have any interest in that sort of masquerade. I enjoy talking to people straight up. That's why I started by posting under my own name and retreated to CoachO, which is still pretty obvious, only for security reasons. So, No.

You all take care of things this weekend. I'm off skiing with my daughter and two of her friends. We're heading for Winterplace up in West Virginia. There's not even cell phone reception up there, and certainly no internet access. We have a hard time getting good radio reception to listen to the UK game, which is not on their tv. Stations up there carry Big East and ACC games. I know they have plenty of snow. I just hope the nice weather holds out until we get back.

Next time we're going to take Knowitall9. If he doesn't want to ski, we'll take him over to the tubing hill. Then we'll get a few good photos to post.

    could your initials be J M or J F?

    Scarlett,
Where are all of the regulars? I was hoping we could recruit more interest in this site. Hopefully, everyone has just been busy. It seems that a lot of those who I have seen this week have commented on how tiring this week has been. Come to think of it, this HAS been a long week!

Ocean Blvd. - I'm the guy with a seat belt on his bar stool - Famous last words ( maybe I'll have just one more ) -

    Scarlett :
No. No one on our team had those initials. No one playing ball on any of the teams above us had those initials. Remember we're talking about the 66-67 school year as far as basketball is concerned. Before that, I was in elementary school and we didn't have teams. During my seventh grade season, the seniors on the varsity were Larry Duncan, Jerry Peters, and Don Minton, and the juniors were Jackie Linville, Eddie Bill Ping, Mike Richardson and Charlie Tucker. The key players on the eighth grade /JV team were David Carr, Billy Denney, Larry Whitaker, Doug Goff, Darwin Minton and James Strunk. The seventh grade roster was Billy Brewster, Larry Burton, Eddie Tucker, Vernon Norris and Gene Burton starting and Doug Strunk, Dennis Whitaker, Ronnie Vaughn, Jerry Holsombach and Jimmy Denney as the second team, which actually played about equal time.

Where are you all today? Its cold out there, and Ive been sitting inside trying to stay warm. I'm Planning on going to the Cracker Barrell for dinner this eve.
I see you all are still trying to figure out who Red Ryder is? Good luck! I honestly think Red Ryder and Red Fox may be the same person. Now just to figure out who it is?

    Julia1 :
Ever since I first posted on this board, everyone has been accusing me of posting as someone else. Julia, I swear to you I have never posted under any screen name but Redd Ryder. Not Redfox, not Horseman, not Rogue, not Secret Sister, not Old Timer, not WasThere, and just the other day Blondie9 accused me of posting as CoachO and that's not true, either. I'm just one hard working person who enjoys taking time out of his day from time to time to post on here and share our memories of when we were kids. I'm not trying to trick anyone or confuse anyone. I just want to talk about H.T. Higgins, Nancy, Mr. Overbey, basketball games and all the mischief we got into. If Knowitall9 teases someone, everyone thinks it's cute. If I do it, they get mad. Like you, however, I enjoy The Cracker Barrel. Hope you have a great meal tonight on a pretty chilly weekend.

Did anybody else watch the UK game? I was getting worried there. Sure like to know how badly Patterson's finger is injured and what's with Harris collapsing and being taken to the hospital at halftime. They're a lot more fun to watch again, after those painful last seasons under Tubby, but they're sure not as overpowering as they were under Rupp, Hall and Pitino.

    Scarlett,
I've made the same mistake with Redd Ryder and Redfox, too.

    Redd Ryder,
I don't know that you have offended anyone, or made anyone mad. I would say that you should keep on posting. For those who are trying to figure out who you are, maybe they will, and have fun while they're doing it!

I don't get mad at anyone of you on here. I love this site and enjoy all of you on here. I realize we have to figure out who you are, and Ive been trying. I probably didnt even go to school with you. So someone else will probably end up guessing who you are. Hope you decide to tell us who you are and will come to the library when we meet again. We have alot of fun telling about things that happened back in those good old Ferguson school days. I had a great dinner at the cracker Barrell. It started getting really crowded as we were leaving.

    Julia :
Miss Indiana. I'm amazed at how much the pageant has changed. It's now in Las Vegas instead of Atlantic City, Bert Parks of course was long ago replaced by these supposedly cool young announcers, and the girls compete in bikinis and radical designer gowns. Miss Hawaii last night did a pretty scandalous hula dance for her "talent," and there are lots of other little details which are an obvious attempt to jazz things up for the 21st Century audience. So it's a lot more lively pageant, but sometimes seems a lot less classy.
